Email Capture Allows Archiving for Any User or Group

MessageOne has announced a quick start email archiving program that will allow customers to rapidly implement legal holds and electronic discovery for pending litigation. With the introduction of new email capture technology, MessageOne is the first to provide Software-as-a-Service email archiving for Microsoft Exchange® for any set of users without requiring journaling or a complex enterprise deployment. As a result of the quick start Email Management Services (EMS) Archive program, any size organization can eliminate the most pressing email-related problems in as little as a day.

Last year, revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) established new requirements for the rapid discovery and production of electronic evidence, including email. To meet these requirements, many companies have turned to email archiving solutions for essential retention policy management, e-Discovery and litigation hold capabilities. Unfortunately, enterprise deployment requirements have made archiving projects unnecessarily expensive, complex and time-consuming, which limits adoption.

New Capture Mechanism Allows for Targeted Archiving
When litigation occurs, companies must protect historical and ongoing email communications from destruction. Since these capabilities are not provided by Exchange, companies need an archive that enables lawyers to place and remove litigation holds on any user or group at any time.

While litigation typically affects just a small subset of users, most email archiving solutions use Exchange Journaling which requires the capture of every message for all users in a data store. With users spread across multiple servers and data stores, companies are forced to archive messages for everyone to meet litigation requirements for a small number of mailboxes. The result is complex and expensive deployments that can take years to fully complete.

To ease and expedite deployment, MessageOne has introduced the first capture mechanism that does not rely on Exchange Journaling. MessageOne’s on-demand EMS Email Archive integrates natively with Exchange to synchronize messages for any sub-set or combination of users, including those on different servers or storage groups. The quick start EMS Email Archive program allows companies to deploy archiving at once and begin e-Discovery for the most critical users.

“One of the biggest obstacles of archiving is the requirement for companies to complete mammoth, complex and expensive deployment projects,” said Bryan J. Rollins, vice president of product management at MessageOne. “Now, for the first time, enterprise customers can deploy rapidly to any user or group and start archiving immediately.”

FRCP-Friendly Email Archiving in as Little as a Day
As a result of the revised FRCP, companies are also expected to walk into court on day one with a clear understanding of the email messages and other electronically stored information in the network. However, performing complex, iterative discovery searches on messages within the timeframes required by the courts is a challenge for most companies.

With EMS Email Archive, customers can now streamline and speed e-Discovery for a specific set of users that are relevant to pending litigation. EMS also enables sub-second, full text searches using any criteria. In addition, the solution provides rapid search and retrieval of email messages and over 370 types of attachments which can be easily exported to a legal discovery system for review.

By deploying the quick start EMS Email Archive program for a select group of users, customers can:
Manage retention and deletion of messages in accordance with corporate policies.
Place legal holds on specific mailboxes to comply with court requirements during litigation.
Reduce Exchange data stores by as much as 80 percent by seamlessly stubbing attachments for selected high-volume users.

The quick start EMS Email Archive program is available now with pricing starting under $1,000 per month. This includes full archive capabilities, extensive message storage and all deployment and support costs.
