Akerman Senterfitt LLP has announced the opening of its New York office located in midtown Manhattan at 335 Madison Avenue.

The firm, which is the largest full service law firm in Florida with over 400 attorneys and consultants intends to provide its Florida clients with expanded services in New York, to assist New York clients in both Florida and Latin America and to serve the New York market.

"New York is a natural market for the firm," said Akerman Senterfitt Chairman and CEO Tom Cardwell. "Our lawyers and our clients have many connections with New York. It is logical for the largest law firm in Florida to have a presence in the nation's financial and business center."

The firm will develop its New York office with lawyers whose practices are consistent with the focus of the firm. These include the corporate, real estate, litigation and Latin American areas.

The office will open with seven lawyers.

Kenneth G. Alberstadt, as Shareholder, will focus on corporate mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, private equity and emerging company representation. Ken was in private practice prior to joining the firm and was previously a corporate partner at Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch LLP, where he led the firm?s securities practice. He began his legal career in the corporate department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
