Weaver, the largest independent CPA firm in the Southwest, announces Brett Siegfried has been named the partner-in-charge of  assurance services in Weaver’s San Antonio office.
 
Siegfried joined the firm in 2010 as a San Antonio audit partner and brought to the position a long-standing history of leadership experience.
 
“In the short time Brett has been with the firm, he has garnered the respect of all of our partners and staff,” said Tommy D. Lawler, Weaver’s managing partner and CEO. “We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented leader in Brett. He continually strives to lead and guide the audit group to make our goals a reality.”
 
“Brett has demonstrated leadership for this position throughout his career and most recently with the firm,” said David Rook, CPA, partner-in-charge of firm assurance and advisory services. “His knowledge and strong skills associated with assuming the responsibility for employee benefit plan audits and other local audit responsibilities make him well-suited for this position.”
 
Siegfried brings more than 16 years of experience in accounting, including financial analysis, financial/divisional management, as well as SEC reporting and filings, internal audit procedures, internal consulting, US GAAP/IFRS compliance, due diligence analysis, variance reporting, enterprise risk assessments and Sarbanes-Oxley implementation. He focuses on finance/accounting management, internal controls evaluations, budgeting/forecasting and capital request analysis and approval.
 
“Brett serving as the San Antonio marketing leader established his leadership position in the San Antonio office,” said Edward M. Polansky, CPA and San Antonio executive partner for Weaver. “His experience will definitely help us grow our audit practice in this market.”
 
Siegfried joined Weaver after working with Padgett, Stratemann & Co. LLP in San Antonio, where he was a partner. Prior to that, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young in San Antonio and worked as corporate controller for Sun Apparel Inc. He also worked for Polo Jeans Company and began his career at Deloitte & Touche.
 
Siegfried’s professional memberships include American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He earned a Master of Science degree in accounting and international business and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and Spanish from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
