Chief Compliance Officer Hot Job

John Steer
Commissioner
USSC

Corporate wrongdoings and scandal-grabbing headlines have a profound negative impact on public trust. To ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, record numbers of corporations are now appointing chief compliance officers and ethics and business conduct professionals to develop and oversee corporate compliance programs. In fact, the compliance profession is experiencing explosive growth.

To illustrate the professions' growth, Christian & Timbers placed Chief Compliance Officer third in its Top 10 Hot Jobs of 2005.

As companies are struggling to understand and employ corporate compliance initiatives, the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) is offering this forum for discussion and a panel of expert speakers at the 2005 Corporate Compliance Workshops.

This SCCE Workshop series includes guidance from compliance professionals from top U.S. corporations including Delta Airlines, Gap, Inc., Kraft Foods, and Tenet Healthcare Corporation. The issues of non-profit organizations also are represented; speakers include a compliance professional from Catholic Healthcare West.

Further insight will be shared by compliance industry experts including Joseph Murphy, Partner, Compliance Systems Legal Group, and John W. Dienhart, Director, Albers Business Ethics Initiative.

Topics for the one-day workshops will include local case studies, discussion regarding failure to comply, USSC updates, management and accountability issues, Sarbanes-Oxley hurdles, and guidance to help professionals set up and maintain effective compliance and ethics programs.

The Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics (SCCE) is an international, non-profit organization solely dedicated to improving the quality of corporate governance, compliance and ethics. SCCE's roles include: facilitating the development and maintenance of compliance programs; providing a forum for understanding the complicated compliance environment; and offering tools, resources and educational opportunities for those involved with compliance.

Its mission: SCCE exists to champion compliance standards, corporate governance, and ethical practice in the business community, and to provide the necessary resources for compliance and ethics professionals and others who share these principles.
