Reducing the Time, Cost and Risk Electronic Discovery for Customers

ZANTAZ, Inc., the global leader in content archiving and electronic discovery solutions, has announced the acquisition of the data classification, policy management and supervision technologies developed by privately held Singlecast. This acquisition further cements ZANTAZ? position as a market leader, enabling the company to provide enhanced intelligent workflow, review and control of electronic data. This will result in the availability of the most comprehensive and integrated set of content archiving and electronic discovery solutions by a single vendor for companies of all sizes in all industries.

ZANTAZ and Singlecast have partnered for more than two years through a technology licensing agreement to provide compliance review tools for the ZANTAZ Enterprise Archive Solution (EAS) product and, more recently, its First Archive product. While ZANTAZ now plans to incorporate Singlecast?s technologies across its entire content archiving product line, the company remains committed to a standards-based approach, so customers who opt for supervision technology from other vendors can continue to integrate it with ZANTAZ solutions.

?Typically, highly regulated companies have used classification technologies for compliance purposes; however, a highly organized archive with automatic categorization of email at the point of creation or delivery is critical for companies across all industries ? not just those that are regulated,? said Brian Babineau, analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). ?In the next four years, ESG estimates that e-mail archives will grow at a compound rate of 68 percent. Companies that leverage these technologies across their archive will see many benefits, including greater control over message content to meet corporate governance policies, improved searching and retrieval of electronic communications as well as simplification of the electronic discovery process.?

By classifying data before it is stored in a ZANTAZ content archive, organizations will significantly reduce the time, costs and risks associated with producing this data for any number of purposes including electronic discovery. It will also help companies meet the more stringent discovery timeframes set out in recent changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) by allowing them to implement uniform retention policies in support of Safe Harbor as well as more accurately identifying responsive data and ultimately negotiate significantly smaller discovery constraints early in the process. Babineau continued, ?With the acquisition of Singlecast?s technology, ZANTAZ has created a clearly differentiated single vendor solution that addresses a more complete spectrum of content archiving and electronic discovery needs due to deeper intelligent archiving and discovery.?

?The acquisition of the Singlecast technology was spurred by the evolving needs of our customers across all industries who, in the face of massive volumes of electronic information, are seeking ways to streamline under one vendor the risks and costs related to the review, discovery and storage of this data,? said Steve King, president and CEO of ZANTAZ. ?Bringing this technology in-house expands our ability to embed it as a key component of our content archiving and electronic discovery solution set, which will enable organizations to use automated, policy-based archiving to more efficiently manage the content they archive as well as better prepare for discovery.?

Founded in 2001, privately held Singlecast has offices in New York and Atlanta, Georgia. The company?s technology combines advanced monitoring and behavior analysis with online review and workflow. Under the terms of the agreement, ZANTAZ is acquiring the technology assets and will retain the company?s employees, including the Founder and President Andrew Joiner. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

?Singlecast?s technologies are an ideal fit with ZANTAZ' commitment to deliver the industry?s most comprehensive content archiving and electronic discovery solutions,? said Joiner. ?We look forward to being a part of the ZANTAZ team, providing customers with the most time-efficient, cost-effective method for performing what is considered to be some of the most imperative functions of reviewing, discovering and storing electronic content.?
