Secure Computing Corporation (Nasdaq: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company, and Tifco Limited has announced that Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts has implemented Secure Computing’s Secure Web (formerly known as Webwasher®) to defend against Web 2.0 threats and ensure regulatory compliance.

Secure Computing’s Secure Web has been implemented in Crowne Plaza hotels in Ireland to protect the organization from Internet threats through the scanning of all inbound and outbound traffic for viruses, malware and other offensive content. It is also being used to filter employee Web access to ensure safe and appropriate usage, and help to ensure the organization complies with industry regulations.

“Secure Computing’s Secure Web was quick to implement and easy to manage, and is extremely effective at protecting us from targeted malware attacks,” said Gerry Martin, Group IT Manager with Tifco Limited. “As an organization, we also need to be careful with the content of the sites accessed, and Secure Web allows us to manage Internet usage effectively and easily, while also ensuring we comply with the law.”

Tifco Limited currently has four hotels in Ireland, including Crowne Plaza Northwood, Crowne Plaza Dundalk, Clontarf Castle Hotel and Express by Holiday Inn Dublin Airport. The group also has a Crowne Plaza Hotel under construction at Blanchardstown in Dublin, which is due to open during the summer of 2008. The solution was implemented by Globalnet Solutions, a leading provider of IT solutions and services, in a central location and will be available in all five hotels.

“Customer demand for greater Internet protection in a Web 2.0 world is increasing, and traditional security technologies are no longer sufficient,” said Atri Chatterjee, senior vice president, Secure Computing. “To proactively and effectively protect against today’s rapidly evolving threat environment, organizations require proactive protection from new and unknown threats. Secure Web delivers this advanced protection using a variety of technologies including anti-malware and global reputation-based security.”

Secure Computing’s Secure Web is the industry’s first and only reputation-based Web gateway security solution that protects enterprises from spyware, phishing, malware, data leakage and Internet misuse, while ensuring policy enforcement, regulatory compliance and a productive application environment. Secure Web employs the most sophisticated behavioral and signature-based techniques for stopping malware, as well as patented content analysis software for stopping data leakage. The solution takes a new and radically different approach to Internet security, employing Secure Computing’s global reputation-based system and methodology, TrustedSource™ technology. Like a credit agency provides credit scores to enable reliable commerce, TrustedSource provides source-based reputation scores for URLs, domains and IP addresses as well as content-based reputation scores for Web page content, messages, attachments and images.
