Manage Exchange Permissions, Archive Messages and Report on Usage

Jon Rolls
Senior Director of Product Management
ScriptLogic

ScriptLogic Corporation, a leading provider of systems lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft® Windows-based networks, has announced the availability of new offerings for comprehensive Windows server management. Security Explorer is a powerful, graphical platform for real-time management of access controls and security on Windows file servers, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Servers and Windows workstations across the enterprise. New in Security Explorer version 7.0, ScriptLogic has extended its server management capabilities with Security Explorer for Exchange, allowing IT administrators to manage, search, duplicate, backup, report and recover all types of permissions in Exchange.

“IT administrators are tasked with managing permissions to ensure security across an entire network. With Security Explorer 7.0, ScriptLogic eliminates the need for administrators to purchase multiple products, or struggle with native security tools, in order to prove server security and compliance,” said Jon Rolls, Vice President, Product Management, ScriptLogic. “Security Explorer 7.0 is one of very few tools to offer integrated management of all types of permissions for Microsoft Exchange: one of the most widely used business critical applications today.”

ScriptLogic also announced that Quest MessageStats, an industry-leading product for reporting on Exchange will be available through the ScriptLogic sales channel. Quest MessageStats gathers, analyzes and reports on Exchange, enabling IT administrators to align e-mail usage with service levels, migrations, capacity planning, policy compliance and strategic business objectives.

Finally, ScriptLogic is offering Archive Manager, Quest MessageStats and Security Explorer for Exchange together in its Exchange Management Solution; a discounted bundle for a comprehensive approach to managing Exchange permissions, archiving messages and attachments and reporting on usage. With ScriptLogic's Exchange Management Solution, IT administrators can ensure compliance with company e-mail policies, organize messages for storage and retrieval and make strategic decisions about Exchange usage and resource allocation.

“Consistent and reliable server permissions management is a challenge, especially in an environment with various servers and limited IT resources,” said Brian Davis, client technologies manager, First Southwest Company. “Restoring permissions or removing service accounts across the network could take hours. However, the functionality of ScriptLogic’s Security Explorer makes the process painless and nearly instantaneous.”

Modular Licensing
A single IT administrator can use Security Explorer to manage permissions across multiple Microsoft technologies on their network, centralizing advanced permissions management of different servers and parts of the Windows network into one console. With the release of version 7.0, administrators can purchase any one or any combination of the following variants to select the functionality that matters to them:

•    Security Explorer Services, Tasks and Account Management for Windows Servers – enables management and security of services, tasks and users/groups on Windows servers;
•    Security Explorer File and Print Management for Windows Servers – expands functionality for advanced management of security and permissions on NTFS volumes, printers, file shares, registry, services, scheduled tasks and local users and groups on Windows servers;
•    Security Explorer for Workstations – provides advanced management of security and permissions on Windows workstations, including NTFS volumes, printers, file shares, registry, services, scheduled tasks and local users and groups;
•    Security Explorer for SharePoint – controls SharePoint groups and permission levels with the ability to manage, search, delegate and recover from a central console;
•    Security Explorer for SQL Server – simplifies the overall management of SQL Server security and ensures that access to privileged database information is restricted; and,
•    Security Explorer for Exchange – streamlines Exchange permission management and reporting, with added backup, restore and clone functionality, powerful search capabilities and central mailbox folder management.
