AlterPoint's award-winning DeviceAuthority Suite To Optimize VoIP Network DeviceAuthority Suite helps multi-billion dollar financial institution automate change/compliance, enhance security management and gain network control

AlterPoint Inc., the leading provider of network change and configuration management (NCCM) solutions, has announced that Hancock Holding Company parent company of Hancock Bank (Mississippi), Hancock Bank of Louisiana, and Hancock Bank of Florida with assets totaling 4.6 billion dollars has deployed DeviceAuthority Suite to automate and manage the change and compliance of devices across its VoIP network providing services to over 2,000 employees and hundreds of external ATM machines spanning four states. Hancock Bank relies on DeviceAuthority Suite's configuration, reporting, compliance, security and change management capabilities to maintain VoIP performance, service, availability and quality.

"Running voice and data over a converged IP network is a huge challenge from a quality and performance standpoint. Network outages are our worst enemy," said Charles Roberts, WAN specialist, Hancock Bank. "Manually managing devices is painfully time-consuming and costly, and it quickly became difficult to balance our other critical IT responsibilities. We needed an NCCM solution that could automate change, configuration and compliance procedures and provide immediate results. DeviceAuthority Suite delivered and has enabled us to automate the entire change process, reduce errors and lower support costs."

To meet audit requirements and the directives of legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and the Privacy Act, Hancock Bank utilizes the Audit Module to view the current state of the network and its compliance with corporate and industry standards. Roberts generates daily comprehensive change reports to keep abreast of all change-related activity, while weekly compliance, inventory and change reports are issued throughout the IT organization from security management to the vice president.

The Update Module provides Roberts with detailed, real-time feedback of the success or failure of a change allowing him to proactively take remedial actions such as rolling back devices to their known good state.

With the Audit Module's visual "diff" view, Roberts compares configurations side-by-side, makes necessary changes and saves them as a script, which can be stored in the Integrated Network Environment (INE) central repository for future use. The (INE) has been instrumental in helping keep applications and interfaces in a central location where he is able to manage change configuration workflows, compliance updates, OS upgrades, password changes and SNMP communit string changes with the AlterPoint AutoScriptor(TM) technology. Since deployment, Hancock Bank has prevented security violations by minimizing device vulnerabilities, reduced network downtime and maintained performance, increased network quality, enhanced staff efficiency and lowered support costs.

"Hancock Bank is a recognized leader in the financial industry, and we are extremely pleased they have embraced DeviceAuthority Suite as part of their converged network infrastructure," said Jeffrey Ait, president and CEO, AlterPoint. "As compliance regulations and network security continue to be in the forefront, AlterPoint remains focused on providing solutions that meet these needs for our customers."

Over the next six months, Hancock Bank will install new VPNs, will upgrade code across all of its routers and will transfer to a new protocol more compatible for the converged network. Roberts plans on managing all changes and configurations with DeviceAuthority Suite and estimates that the time to configure the additional devices will take three two-hour nights as opposed to seven 8-hour days had it been done manually at 30 minutes per device.
