A Clean Opinion for Security and Confidentiality

Bridgeway Software, the most recommended provider of legal service management solutions, has announced that it has achieved SOC 2 Type 2 compliant in Security and Confidentiality Trust Service Principles, Criteria and Illustrations.  Independent service auditors evaluated Bridgeway’s enterprise legal management software as a service (SAAS), and have determined there were no exceptions in the design and operating effectiveness of its controls.  This means that Bridgeway has met or exceeded each standard and/or expectation as defined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

“Even if a service provider commits to provide a certain level of service, buyers should not automatically assume that this service will be met without adequate evidence.  Gartner clients continue to report frustration over the form and degree of transparency they are able to obtain from prospective and current service providers,” wrote Jay Heiser, research Vice President with Gartner Research in a report titled: Cloud Contracts Need Security Service Levels to Better Manage Risk, May 16 2014.  The report also states that “The periodic conduct of a third-party evaluation, including security-specific standards such as SOC 2 is slowly becoming more standard for SaaS providers that are positioning themselves as being appropriate for the hosting of sensitive content.  The fact that a provider has undergone some level of third-party evaluation is a form of transparency.”

SOC 2 compliancy represents a broad-based set of Trust Service Principles put forth jointly by the AICPA and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).  By meeting the criteria for the security and confidentiality principles set forth in TSP section 100, Trust Services Principles, Criteria, and Illustrations for Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy (AICPA, Technical Practice Aids), Bridgeway customers can be confident that Bridgeway’s solutions contain the highest level of security and confidentiality.

“As a former General Counsel of a $12B company doing business in over 100 foreign countries around the world, it is hard to overstate the importance of secure data in today’s cyber environment.  Bridgeway is once again at the forefront in providing controls and secure data systems for its customers,” said Gardner Courson, Attorney at Taylor English.
