Paradigm Communications has announced its official opening as a full-service marketing and public relations firm. Founded by Dennis O?Connor, a PR professional with over 14 years of experience, Paradigm Communications will focus its services in part on companies addressing the issues of compliance and risk mitigation in general and the needs and concerns of Sarbanes-Oxley in particular. Financial services, higher education, sports and technology will also be industries serviced by Paradigm Communications.

?I?ve been working with a variety of companies in the areas of compliance, risk mitigation and Sarbanes-Oxley media and analyst relations for more than three years now, and I have developed professional relationships with many of the editors, reporters and analysts who follow this issue closely,? said Dennis M. O?Connor, Jr., president of Paradigm Communications. ?We look forward to working with companies that are helping the business community address these important issues, to assist them in their marketing and public relations needs.?

According to an AMR Research report released last month, organizations will spend more than $6 billion on Sarbanes-Oxley compliance-related activities in 2005. ?Compliance is an all-encompassing set of activities that cross business and IT groups,? said John Hagerty, vice president of research at AMR Research. ?Companies that see the big picture will put these mandates to work for them and use them as a catalyst to improve or even rethink many parts of their organizations.?

One of Paradigm Communications? first clients is the Sarbanes Oxley Group (SOXGAP), provider of SOXBase and SOXPro level training and certification programs for Audit and Non-Audit Professionals involved in (or looking to get involved in) SOX-related compliance projects. As SOXGAP prepared to launch its first training seminar in New York City, they worked with Paradigm Communications to generate publicity and exposure for their organization as well as their chairman, Sanjay Anand.

?Paradigm Communications has done outstanding work for us. They provided us with the visibility and publicity that was critical to our launch as well as to enabling us to make a sustainable contribution to the industry,? Mr. Anand said. ?By leveraging their resourceful strategic communications planning and valuable media and industry connections, Paradigm Communications generated media coverage that increased the number of inquiries and requests for information, which have been critical to our rapid growth and success.?

The firm?s founder, Dennis O?Connor, previously served as executive vice president of Peter Arnold Associates, a high-tech public relations firm outside of Boston. Mr. O?Connor began his career in politics, working for six years as campaign manager and/or press secretary for a number of different national, state and congressional campaigns. Following a stint as a senior account executive at the Hubbell Group, a financial services PR firm outside of Boston, Mr. O?Connor became the director of communications for the Collegiate Professional Basketball League. Under his leadership, this fledgling professional sports league generated over $850,000 in free publicity its first corporate sponsor, Lycos, according to an independent research firm.

Based in Natick, MA, Paradigm Communications currently offers eight primary marketing and communications services:
  • Strategic Media Relations
  • Public Relations Benchmarking, Goal-Setting and ROI Measurement
